DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS:

Is motivation the explanation by excellence of the failures and the best way to arouse learning?

This article presents an overview of how psychological researchers design motivation now:
• A phenomenon related to a context which is changing, evolving and can vary in quality and not only in intensity.
• A phenomenon involving multiple dimensions (multiple goals and concerns, more or less coherent or conflicting, close or distant from the learning proposed).
This article also proposes two key ideas for the practice of « make learning» :
• The involvement in an activity is more closely associated with perceptions, feelings and representations relating to this field of activity in particular, rather than a general attitude about school or learning.
• Motivation involves perceptions related to oneself, the task and others as well.

COMMENTS ON THIS PUBLICATION:

As far as the concept of motivation is concerned, there is no single definition of motivation; everyone has his own opinion.

This article invites educational leaders to question the way they use their scope for action and the place they give to the intentionality of learners.
How do the various aspects of my professional practice (work setting, questioning, communication, group dynamics, structure, production, evaluation ...) seek the psychological processes of the learner outlined in the article?
