This is an extensive study, funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) focusing on issues faced by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils and what can be done to improve educational outcomes for this group.

Current research evidence and literature over the last 10 years were reviewed and a European perspective was also covered - 91 sources of evidence were included in the review.

COMMENTO SULLA PUBBLICAZIONE:

This is a really useful and comprehensive review which highlights a number of important and influential issues arising from the literature. If teachers have a problem linked to Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils I suggest this is essential reading.

Areas covered include: Pupil perspectives and experiences of schooling; Parents' beliefs, values and expectations about education; Teacher expectations and attitudes; Relationships; Levels of engagement; Pupil attainment; Pupil well being; Effective practise; Interagency working; and a secion on 'The European perspective'.

Stay@School at the Future of Education Conference

The Stay@School projet will be presented at the third edition of the “Future of Education” international conference, held in Florence, Italy, on 13 - 14 June 2013. Over 250 participants from all over the world will attend the conference. The conference participants belong to the sectors of higher education, school education, vocational education and training as well as adult education, therefore representing all of the target groups of the Stay@School project.
