This report provides a review of the available evidence relating to the problems of high levels of worklessness in deprived neighbourhoods and the effectiveness of policy interventions to address the problem.
The report provides a lot of detailed, extensively researched, background information about the problem of worklessness in deprived neighbourhoods and links with the project in emphasising the importance of school performance and educational attainment on subsequent employment prospects. It further emphasises the importance of effective local strategies for raising educational attainment and preventing school 'drop outs'.
