Objectives of activities carried out:
Objectives:


•To complete specified number of interviews with relevant personnel

•To make a study of five early school leavers

•To write up case studies for five early school leavers typical of the current situation in Ireland


Time period:
May – September 2008

Description of activities carried out:
Interviews held with remaining principals, teachers, early school leavers, potential early school leavers and parents to number five of each

•Format followed to align with project protocol for case studies
- Two male and three female case studies
- Three young people who left school early and two who are presently considering leaving school early

•Analysis of information for inclusion in Transnational Report


Outcomes:
• Five case studies completed for young people who left school
• early or are potential early school leavers
• Communication of analysis of information for input into the Transnational Report

Evaluation of the work undertaken:
Work carried out successfully. It was a good experience and met with enthusiasm when personnel agreed to partake in the research.
