To pilot the Training Package in Ireland

To explore the chapters one by one with a group of teachers with an interst in early school leaving

To reflect on the content of each chapter and

To offer some constructive feedback to the partners who compiled each chapter

Invitation to teachers to participate in the pilot project

Regular gatherings of teachers to explore the content of each chpater of the Training Package

Encouragement of teachers to engage int eh project, to exploer the material - both printed out and on the web - and to return constructive feedback to the 'Meeting Place' on the portal

Lively discussin on each chapter and exploration of valuabel and change opportunities

Outcomes:

Five gatherings of teachers at Mayo Education Centre between Febuary and June 2009

Exploration of each of the five chapters

Familiarisation with the School Inclusion portal

Engaged and committed teachers to the process and responses from teachers posted on the web

Evaluation of the work undertaken:

It was a valuable manner of piloting the training package and one that captured the imagination of the teachers

While we did havbe 10 teachers engaged in the process it was not possible to have 10 for each of the sessions due ot illness/family committments

However thos who were present wer fuolly engaged and committed to the project and to learning from the activity in order to better their personal reaponses to the issue in their schools
