Junior Achievement offers programmes which bring into students’ attention the role school has in their development and give a detailed presentation of the economic advantages provided by continuing their studies. The programme „Early School Leaving” has been developed to help students to develop a positive attitude towards the role of education and their future. The students are explained the (economic) advantages of the education they are given at school. During the programme, they will participate in various activities which will enable them to become aware of the price they will pay if they leave school and advantages they will have by obtaining a higher level of education
Contents:
1. Introduction: General Presentation of the Pogramme; Materials Used; Preparation before Class; Children’s Needs Identification; List of the materials which have been provided; Concepts and Abilities Used during the Programme.
2. Activities: Tips for choosing one’s own path in life; „Success” Game; Experience-based learning; The cost of life; Self—knowledge; Setting down personal objectives.
3. Addenda: tests; observation form.
The handbook helps teachers to carry out various classroom activities with their pupils on different topics such as:
- Personal skills;
- Life success;
- Building a family budget;
- Career;
- Decision making;
- Employees’ advantages and responsibilities;
- Estimating one’s income and expenses;
- Role of taxes and taxation
- The role and importance of work.
The handbook provides the teachers with a thorough methodology which puts together theoretical aspects and concepts, practical work and real life experience. Examples of classroom activities: discussions, games, presentations, creativity-stimulating activities, tests, quizzes and questionnaires, simulating real life simulations. Great emphasis will be placed on encouraging team work.

Stay@School at the Future of Education Conference
The Stay@School projet will be presented at the third edition of the “Future of Education” international conference, held in Florence, Italy, on 13 - 14 June 2013. Over 250 participants from all over the world will attend the conference. The conference participants belong to the sectors of higher education, school education, vocational education and training as well as adult education, therefore representing all of the target groups of the Stay@School project.
