Gli studenti non sono solo abbandonare la scuola, la stanno scaricando. Gli insegnanti non sono solo in fuga, ma fuggono correndo. Ogni gruppo può incolpare l'altro, ma si verificano per tutti aspetti degli stessi problemi, non è colpa degli altri. Entrambi sono vittime del processo di alienazione che prevale nelle scuole ed è coltivato da condizioni all'interno della scuola, la comunità, e la società in generale. Secondo gli autori, i tentativi di diminuire abbandoni ed esaurimenti hanno fallito perché i riformatori hanno avvicinato il problema da due problemi distinti. Le cause principali sono gli stessi in ogni situazione e si tratta di "incaricare un rivalutazione immediata e drastica". “Giving Up on school” è il risultato di anni di ricerca sociologica e antropologica in ambiente scolastico.

COMMENTO SULLA PUBBLICAZIONE:

Gli autori offrono un ritratto convincente di coloro che "si spegne, vanno fuori sintonia, e sono espulsi, cacciati fuori (drop out)" e poi tentano di proporre modifiche - sia semplici che più di vasto respiro - per invertire la tendenza.

Stay@School at the Future of Education Conference

The Stay@School projet will be presented at the third edition of the “Future of Education” international conference, held in Florence, Italy, on 13 - 14 June 2013. Over 250 participants from all over the world will attend the conference. The conference participants belong to the sectors of higher education, school education, vocational education and training as well as adult education, therefore representing all of the target groups of the Stay@School project.
