Fourth and last project meeting

In the date of October 9th took place the fourth and last project meeting took place in Florence (IT). The project partners analyzed all the activities carried out, the final results achieved and the final conference outcomes.

6th of October 2009

School inclusion Final Conference

School Inclusion Project Final Conference will take place in Florence (IT) on October 8th. The conference venue is Palazzo Incontry, Via Dei Pucci, Firenze. The Conference will start at 9.30 am and will end at 5.30pm. During the Conference each partner will present the best practice to prevent early school leaving in their own country. Following the presentation a round table discussion will be hold. It will be moderated by experts in the field of early school leaving. About 100 people are expected to attend the conference.
After the conference a delegation representing the 5 partners involved the School Inclusion project will be received at the Florence city council and will meet the major and the councillor of education of Florence.

Teachers Evaluation of the Portal

All teachers involved in the project filled in an Evaluation Questionnaire on the School Inclusion Portal. The evaluations given were the basis for each project partner to create a Portal Evaluation Report. The reports will be used to improve the portal following the suggestions of the teachers who tested it.

Sharing Experiences

Secondary school teachers are invited to comment their European colleagues experiences related to the prevention of early school leaving. Comment may be written in the specific Teachers Experience section on the portal.

Test of Module 4 and 5 of the Training Package

May and June are dedicated to the test of both Module 4 and Module 5 of the Training Package. Module 4 is entitled Educational Evaluation. Aspete – School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (GR) is the author of Module 4. Module 5 is entitled External Support and Cooperation. Mayo Education Centre (IE) is the author of Module 5. The two partner organizations are available to answer to the teachers questions on Module 4 and Module 5 on the dedicated forum available under the Meeting Space section of the Portal.

Collecting Teachers’ Experiences

The teachers involved in the test have been asked to describe their personal experiences dealing with students at risk of early school leaving. There is a specific Teachers Experience section on the portal where each teachers describe their positive and/or negative experience related to students at risk of dropping out and other teachers comment them.

Test of Module 3 of the Training Package

April is dedicated to the test of Module 3 of the Training Package. Module 3, entitled Teaching Methods has been created by CIPAT (IT). This Module aims to help teachers to develop active teaching and to support cooperative learning. The staff of the author organization is available to answer to the teachers questions on Module 3 on the dedicated forum available on this Portal. The involved teachers commented on the forum that Module 3 is ‘particularly coherent and well-structured’.

2nd of March 2009

Test of Module 2 of the Training Package

During the month of March, the involved teachers are testing the Module 2 of the Training Package. Module 2 is entitled Communication. Centre for Educational Research, University of Koblenz-Landau (DE) is the author of Module 2. The objective of the module is to support teachers in fighting drop out by improving communication. The author partner is available to answer to the teachers questions on Module 2 on the dedicated forum available under the Meeting Space section of the Portal. Teachers commented that the course ‘provides an exhaustive analysis of all aspects of communication and it is well presented’.

Teachers National Workshops

From the month of February, the involved teachers are taking part to national workshops organized by the partner national coordinator. Each monthly workshop focuses on a module of the Training Package. There is a section of the portal collecting all the National Workshops. reports, including pictures and other material produced

Test of Module 1 of the Training Package

February is dedicated to the test of Module 1 of the Training Package. Module 1 is entitled Identification of Students at Risk. Wilsthorpe Business & Enterprise College (UK) is the author of Module 1. They are available to answer to the teachers questions on Module 1 on the dedicated forum available under the Meeting Space section of the Portal. This Module aims to help teachers to identify young people at risk of dropping out of education.

Third Partners Meeting

The third project meeting took place in Carlisle (IE) at Mayo Education Centre, on the 15th and 16th January, 2009. The project partners analyzed the activities carried out, the results achieved and the material produced. Among the objectives of the partners' meeting there was the planning of the detailed planning of future project activities.

Training Package available on line

The in service teachers Training Package has been uploaded on the School Inclusion Portal. The training package is addressed to in service secondary school teachers. The Training Package consists of on-line course modules focusing on how to identify students at risk, on communication techniques, on teaching methodologies promoting an active participation, on evaluation of educational processes and finally on external resources and support for teachers and students. As an integration to the training package a Teachers Forum is accessible on the Meeting Space section of the School Inclusion Portal. On the Forum the authors of each of the course modules will answer questions and provide clarification or further information about the contents of the module they have developed.

10th November 2008

First Draft of Course's Contents now Available

The project partners have adopted the common course's index and have produced the first draft of the contents of their modules. These are available under the Training Package section of the Portal.

4th October 2008

Transnational Cooperation in the finalization of the Training Course Index

The project partners are currently sharing their views and providing feedbacks on the index of contents for the training course they have produced. The discussion is taking place both via e-mail and also on the project forum available on the project web site at http://schoolinclusion.pixel-online.org/info/index.php

Training Course Index Now Available

Each project partner produced an index of contents for the training packages. Every single module is now outlined in its main parts and ready to be developed. The project partners are currently sharing their views on each other's proposed contents with the purpose of improving and making consistent the training package modules.

Second Partners Meeting

The second project meeting took place in Nottingham (UK) at Wilsthorpe College, on the 9th and 10th June. The partners analyzed the activities carried out, the results achieved and the material produced. Among the objectives of the partners' meeting there was the planning of the Training Programme, organized in modules assigned to each partner.

Selection of Publications on Early School Leaving Issues now Available

The partners produced several reviews of publications available at national level in the five European countries involved, on the topics related to early school leaving issues. The publications include: literature, reports, data, studies etc. Over 150 relevant publications have been identified and reviewed by the project partnership. The reviews of the selected publications are organized in a searchable database available in the "Publication" section of the portal.

Transnational Report on Early School Leaving Issues now Available

The project promoter created a Transnational Report on "Early School leaving Issues" that is the result of an analysis of the national reports produced by each project partner. The Transnational Report makes a comprehensive analysis of the early school leaving issues in the countries involved in the project and the most successful policies implemented by European governments. The report is available under the "Reports" section of the School Inclusion Portal, in English and in each of the partners languages.

30th April 2008

National Reports on Early School Leaving now Available

The project partners produced National Reports on the national trends, in five European countries, as far as early school leaving is concerned. Each report identifies both the causes and possible solutions related to the early school leaving issues. Each report also indicates the best national practices and experiences carried out to combat early school leaving. The national reports are now available both in English and in other 3 languages under the "Reports" section of the School Inclusion Portal.

Case Studies on Early School Leaving Experiences

The project partners produced a number of Case Studies by carrying out interviews with those involved in early school leaving issues (i.e. students, teachers, parents, school directors, councilors in charge of education). The Case Studies are part of the preparatory work for the development of a strategy to prevent and combat the early school leaving.

National Workgroups of experts

During the month of March the project partners have organized national workgroups composed by teachers, headmasters, public officers. The national workgroups are now discussing and analysing the topic of early school leaving and working for the production of the national reports on this issues that are due for the end of April.

Adoption of the Interview model

The Interview model to carry out the case studies has been adopted. According to what was decided during the first partners meeting each partner has sent to the project coordinator a number of questions to be included in the Transnational questionnaire. Cipat, the project promoter, has examined the proposals of the partners and on the basis of them has produced the Transnational Interview model which is now used by all partners. It was agreed that each partner will be able to further adapt the model to their needs.

School Inclusion First Partners Meeting

The project Kick Off meeting took place in Florence, on the 31st January & 1st February, 2008. Cipat, project promoter, and Pixel, the project coordinator, presented the partners with a detailed description of the project and the activities that would be carried out. The meeting was also an opportunity for the partners to get to know each other and to discuss all details related to the project activities. At the end of the meeting all the partners had a clear view of the project and its development.

Stay@School at the Future of Education Conference

The Stay@School projet will be presented at the third edition of the “Future of Education” international conference, held in Florence, Italy, on 13 - 14 June 2013. Over 250 participants from all over the world will attend the conference. The conference participants belong to the sectors of higher education, school education, vocational education and training as well as adult education, therefore representing all of the target groups of the Stay@School project.
